ABOUT CATHY DESHANE

Cathy Deshane was born and raised in Kingston Ontario. She has been painting since she was old enough to hold a paint brush. Cathy paints with watercolour, acrylic and has a special love for painting with oils.

At the age of 19, Cathy was inspired and instructed by Linda Heatherington in oil painting techniques. She also studied at Loyalist College, taking courses in calligraphy as well as courses in watercolour painting with Donna Cameron. Cathy finds that inspiration from her family is more valuable than any formal training.

After suffering a stroke in early 2000 while attending Maxwell College, Cathy's passion for art has only elevated! Since the stroke, she has worked through the brain injury by using art as a form of therapy. She gas partnered with the "Community Brain Injury Services" as a support for her recovery and to encourage other brain injury victims to find healing and comfort through the arts. Cathy is a strong advocate for both the Stroke Awareness Month in March, and the Brain Injury Awareness Month in June. Cathy continues to lead a busy life pursuing spiritual interests and art.
